Upcycled Art

These drawings are done directly on denim fabrics using upcycled Jeans. They are embellished with fabrics scraps and recycled jewelry. The denin fabrics are mounted onto birchwood panels.

My purpose for this series was to save unwanted clothing/accessories/shoes from being thrown into landfills and reuse them to make art. I use fabric scraps, unwanted jewelry that are a bit useless on their own but have the potential to become something better. So much of our unwanted items go to waste on a regular basis. I wanted to make an effort to help eliminate some of that waste if possible. I have always loved playing around with fabrics - making accessories, and decking out old clothes and shoes. This led me to merge this medium with figure drawings. Fashion has always been a creative outlet for me, so this way of creating art has become a new and fun way to express myself!
